Welcome to my office! Stuff I can’t work without

Today, I want to invite you to have a look around my office and see what I use for my work on a regular basis. Some of these things are very design and illustration specific but there are others from which I’m sure any business owners and freelance worker could benefit. This is the result of a lot of trial and error that, of course, is far from over yet. Come on in!

My main work tools

My tablet monitor: Huion KAMVAS GT-221 Pro 21.5 inch HD Pen Display

This is my most recent purchase and also my most valued work tool. I got it last December and haven’t been away from it ever since. Designing with a regular graphics tablet versus a mouse is already a completely different experience, but if we are talking about an actual display tablet then that’s a whole new universe. Huion is a great alternative to the much more expensive Wacom ones. I love the 10 customizable express keys and touch bar and the fact that they are on both sides (I’m left-handed).

My keyboard: Logitech K380 Multi-Device Bluetooth Keyboard

The size and wireless connectivity via Bluetooth make this keyboard a super portable tool. It can be connected to 3 different devices so it is very useful when you need to write a larger text on your phone, for example. I usually take it with me when I travel without my laptop so I can answer emails on my phone much faster. I’ve had it for more than a year now and I didn’t need to replace the batteries yet.

My mouse: Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX

The best thing about this mouse is its ergonomic shape. I work with it for several hours a day and I’ve never experienced the feeling of fatigue I’ve had with other mouses. Again, the fact that this connects via Bluetooth makes it possible to use it on different computers very easily. I work with it on both my desktop and my laptop. It also has several customizable buttons that really come in handy. I’m pretty sure they already have a new model but I hope this one stays with me for many years.

These make my life easier

My planner: Moleskine 12 Month Daily Planner (Pocket size)

This is my project scheduler, deadline manager and personal assistant. If I don’t write it down here, it is more than likely that it won’t happen. I like the simplicity and small size of this planner. I’ve had the larger format in previous years but it was much heavier to carry around and I didn’t need that much writing space anyway. The pocket size is perfect for me.

My footrest: Kensington SoleSaver Adjustable Footrest

Not the fanciest item on this list but it definitely makes a difference. I spend many hours a day sitting at my desk and when I don’t have a good posture the effects are almost immediate. This footrest helps me control that a bit better.

My lightbox: Portable Photography Studio by Zenic

Another recent addition to my office. I use it to take photos of my art shop products and so far so good. It can be folded and unfolded in no time and it is very easily stored. The LED light is powered via USB so you can plug it into your computer or a power bank.

My printer: Samsung SL-M2020W/XAA Wireless Monochrome Printer

I love the fact that this runs on toner instead of ink. It lasts much longer and prints faster. Again, awesome connectivity options: I can print documents directly from my phone via Wi-Fi. Although I’ve never used that function, you are also able to print remotely using Google Cloud Print.

Well, I could work without these but it wouldn’t be as awesome

Alessi “Kastor” Pencil Sharpener

Seriously, how cool is this design? I remember seeing it in some industrial design sites and immediately falling in love with it. My boyfriend gave it to me as a present a couple of years ago and it’s been on my desk ever since. The design is by Rodrigo Torres.

Grado SR80e Prestige Series Headphones

Although they are a bit on the pricey side for a pair of headphones, the sound quality of these really pays off. I’ve had the opportunity to try many other high quality headphones since I got them (Hi-Fi obsessed boyfriend) and I’ve realized they are not the most comfortable ones but still pretty decent for this price.

Kitty Fingerless Gloves

Those of you who follow me on Instagram have probably seen these in my Stories very often. Working at my desk in Autumn and Winter my hands get icy cold if I don’t wear gloves. These allow me to type on my keyboard and use my tablet smoothly with the added bonus of being super cute.

Albus Dumbledore Funko POP

As a major Potterhead for life, this needed to be at my desk too. He watches over me during my work hours and keeps me accountable for all my wins and fails.

“It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” – Albus Dumbledore

That’s all for now! I have some other things around here but I wouldn’t recommend them as much or I am considering an upgrade, such as for my desk and my office chair. What about you? What tools and products do you use on a regular basis? Please, share them in the comments. I’d love to know!
